CluneTech Kilkenny Stars: 65
Dublin Raiders: 62
An edgy finish to a game that had multiple shifts of momentum ended with a 3 point victory for our Stars Ladies.
At times the home team were sublime in offence and relentless in defence. Steph Davis put in a HUGE performance hitting 23 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Aoibhin Dunphy was consistent throughout coming up with 14 points while Lena Zydek hit 10 and Ava Coogan hit 2 huge 3 pointers in the final quarter to help secure the win.
The Stars got out to a great start and rushed into a 19 v 9 lead and pushed it out to 41 v 27 at the half. Aimee O'Reilly and Gemma Lawlor were very solid throughout the half.
At the start of the 3rd the Stars flew out of the blocks with Faye Scanlon and Clodagh O'Neill contributing but the scores dried up and Raiders went on their run to reduce the lead to just 6 points going into the final period.
In the last quarter the Stars were very strong BUT the Raiders made some huge shots to keep the game very close and give themselves a shot on the buzzer to tie the game that just rimmed out.
Another huge win for our Stars Ladies who were really up against it tonight with a few players not available. It's such a testament to this squad that when called upon they can dig deep and grind out results like this one.
Up next are a couple of road games away to Limerick Celtics next Saturday and then Galway Mystics on Sunday 28th December.
Thanks to our supporters who made lots of noise to help the team get over the line and take the W.
