It's the end of another year of tremendous growth for our club and as we bounce into 2025 it is important to reflect on some of our achievements for the current season to-date in 2024.
It's the end of another year of tremendous growth for our club and as we bounce into 2025 it is important to reflect on some of our achievements for the current season to-date in 2024.
- National League - our ladies launched our first team and are currently top of their conference having won 3 out of 3 games so far. Next up is Clonaslee at home on Sat 11th January at 7pm. We are delighted to share with you that Basketball Ireland Hall of Famer and RTE's Olympic Basketball Announcer Timmy McCarthy will be in O'Loughlins calling this game live in-person and online via Basketball Ireland TV.
- Senior Teams - the club has established teams in the Women's and Men's South East Leagues who are both performing very well to-date and will provide a pathway for our junior players to play basketball beyond the U18 league.
- U20 Ladies - currently at the Quarter Final stage of the competition which we have entered for the first time.
- U16 All Ireland Champions - Our Coaches and 7 players from the U16 girls squad competed and won Basketball Ireland Post Primary School All Ireland Competition. This was the first time that the South East have ever won this tournament.
- Social Basketball - the Ladies group have gone from strength to strength and currently have close to 30 members. Next year we plan to incorporate a men's social session into our cluib.
- Junior Academy - Friday nights are a hive of activity with close to 100 boys & girls ranging from 6 to 10 years enjoying the Academy Sessions.
- League Teams - we have 20 teams competing in the Leagues this year from U11 to Senior.
- Club Lotto - this essential club fundraiser has been going very well for us since it's inception in October 2023 and we had our first Jackpot winner in November 2024 with a prize of €4,050. While we have steady membership, we do not have all of our club members signed up. For anyone not signed up, HERE is a link to our most popular "ticket":
- Sponsors - We have successfully secured significant sponsorship from local businesses, without which we would not be able to run our club and we are very grateful.
The months of January - March in particular will be very busy for our teams and we are truly looking forward to seeing how all of the leagues/cups play out.
I just want to take this opportunity to thank our coaches for all of the effort put in during 2024 and wish them the best of luck for the 2nd half of the season. Also a huge thank you to the parents of our players who put in significant efforts getting the kids to/from trainings and games and for your support throughout each season. Last but not least our amazing Committee Members who make it all happen behind the scenes.
