Our Ladies U20 Team made their debut in the National Cup yesterday in front of a big crowd in O’Loughlin Gaels, GAA Club.  The opposition were Dublin Raiders who made the trip down for the game.

 

The game started at a frantic pace with Kilkenny Stars coming out of the blocks quickly, scoring on the break and getting out to a 17 point lead.  The Dublin team rallied and brought the score back to just a 5 point game at end of Quarter 1.

 

The defensive effort from Kilkenny Stars was excellent in Quarter 2 limiting the opposition to just 8 points.  The Stars pushed their score out to 49 points to go in at the half with a 23 point lead.

The second half took a similar pattern to the second quarter with Kilkenny Stars keeping the scoreboard ticking over with some fantastic scores across the team and a huge impact from the bench.

 

In the end, Kilkenny Stars progress to the next round of the National Cup with a final scoreline of 81 v 40. Next up will be Oblate Basketball Club and another home draw for Kilkenny Stars.
