This is a very special competition which is sponsored by the fantastic people at Eco Solar Energy and which aims to recognise the less mainstream clubs in the South East region. We had opposition from sports like roller-derby, American football and jiu-jitsu to name but a few and it was really interesting to hear their stories tonight. Huge thanks to the team at BEAT FM for running a fantastic competition and for putting on a very entertaining show tonight.
A lot of our focus and goals for the 2023/204 season were focused around the non-competitive side of the club and we had a very successful year with our Ladies Socia-Ball and Boys Social Basketball sessions flourishing. This year the Socia-Ball for teenage girls has kicked off and we strongly encourage girls who are interested in playing some basketball in a non-competitive, fun environment to give it a go.
This season a large part of our focus has also moved to establishing our Ladies National League Team and we are so excited to see what our girls can do on the court this year. In addition we have added a Mens & Ladies team to the club so that we can create pathways for our players to play basketball with Kilkenny Stars after they turn 18. This season we will have the most amount of teams in the history of the club with 21 teams competing across 16 age grades.
